Top of the Pops Chart Overhawl

Well, as you have probably read I have recently revamped the Top of the Pops chart rundown. I thought the old one was a little static, and the viewing figures supported this as well. To make the chart rundown more appealing I have decided to do a number of things, including, changing the static images into music videos (if available), the chart representation arrows are now animated (remind you of the early 80's TOTP?) and I have introduced some new transition animations. I hope everyone likes these new changes. I will try to source better quality music videos however they are in short supply due to YouTube blocking them. However, I will try my best to provide you with the best quality. Please watch and then comment on my chart rundown. The video is above this post.

Top of the Pops - This Week's Top 20

Well, due to popular demand I have decided to continue the Top of the Pops top 20 chart rundown as a regular YouTube video upload. This week's Top 20 is shown at the bottom of this post.

However, in the future I shall be changing the format of the chart rundown slightly I feel, as the current Top of the Pops chart rundown I have created is very retro, and a lot of people feel it should be more modern. So with feedback I have decided to:

Change the opening titles slightly
To use videos of chart entries not still images
Update the music of the chart rundown - possibly a newly composed title?

So keep watching, the changes will not be happening immediatly, so please keep on sending me your feedback on the current look. Thanks again.

The Ident & Ad Box YouTube Channel gets a new background!

As many of you have probably noticed the old TOTP background on the Ident & Ad Box's YouTube Channel page has disappeared. I thought it was fitting to change the TOTP theme to fit in with the brand identity etc. This is why the old TOTP logos are now in box's (which are supposed to represent TV, screen etc.) lol I hope you like this new identity. Please leave me your thoughts about the new blog, and the new background and overall image of the Ident & Ad Box's new identity refresh. Thanks again for your continued support :)

The Ident & Ad Box's receives its first award!

On the 23rd March 2009, the Ident & Ad Box got it's first Youtube award. Recieving the award for the '52nd most viewed directors profile' The award fluctuated throughout the day, starting as low as 60th, and then creeping up to 52nd place. I thought I would show you all some proof too, here is an image I took of the award that was posted on my YouTube channel.

This March I recently celebrated my YouTube channel's 2nd birthday. How time has flown! When I created my YouTube account in 2006 I thought I would have little need or use for it, however it seems that my YouTube channel has now become one of my hobbies (As sad as it may seem lol) In the Spring of 2007 I began to get more interested in YouTube, which led me to the to the obsession I now have with idents and adverts lol. In February 2007, BBC Two decided to relaunch its TV brand image, ditching the yellow and purple themed robot idents in favour for a more classic 'Window on the world' approach. The lead up to the new idents being introduced made me more aware of TV presentation both in the UK and in the rest of the world, and since the change on BBC2 I have been facinated with idents - especially BBC2, or had you not worked that one out? lol.

The first video I ever uploaded onto YouTube, and my channel (then BBC2 Memorabilia) was the BBC2 Powder Ident - spoof video. The video was pretty popular, and feedback from it encouraged me to make more other interesting idents related to the BBC Two identity change. One of my most popular YouTube videos to date, and which still gets around 200 viewings a day is my BBC2 idents tribute (1964-2007) - It takes two video. The video currently has been viewed over 60,000 times, which is pretty impressive I think, lol. The video was also featured on the BBC2 website in March 2007 as a ident tribute. Since the high viewing figures the channel has gone from strength to strength. After discovering the diversity of the identity of TV channels, adverts and classic TV programmes my channel has adapted to the changes. Being named the BBC2 Ident Ark from 2008-2009, and now recently being renamed the Ident & Ad Box.

I decided to rename the channel to reflect my video uploads and how the channel has evolved in recent years, as I now focus more on general TV presentation idents. I have also recently focused on TV adverts, and other classic TV programmes such as 'Top of the Pops' However, the change in name doesn't mean I shall be abandoning the BBC2 idents or continuity videos.
